Today's homework is in two parts:
1. First, watch this TED talk:
Answer these questions:
1. Identify one thing you learned from this TED talk.
2. Do you believe images can change the world, why or why not?
3. Identify one image, photograph, painting or logo that has affected you in some way and why.
2. Research your topic.
As you start to think about your final project, think about how you are going to present your cause.
1. Find a powerful image representing your cause, copy and paste the link.
2. Write one paragraph about why you think the picture you chose represents why people should fight for your cause.
part1
ReplyDelete1) 1 thing I learned in this TED talk is it takes a photograph to get something out there.
2) I believe that images can change the world because if you can see something its more believable and it might cause people to react.
3) one image I saw that affects me is the polar bear because of global warming
part2
1)http://www.svsu.edu/mathsci-center/uploads/science/TRearth/WaterPollution.htm
2) theirs various reasons on how this image effects people and why its a good reason to stop this. 1 reason people should fight for this cause because it effects the water that they drink. another reason that we should fight for the cause it poisons the fish we eat. people could stop this by cleaning up the beaches when they leave it and their garbage does get washed into the water. i think these are reasonable reasons to stop water pollution. Angelo Lucatorto
Part 1
ReplyDelete1. I learned from this TED talk that images can change the way people think and has a major effect on people. Images can be shown all around the world because everyone understands pictures. That is why people say a picture is worth a thousand words.
2. Yes I think that images can change the world because pictures really take out the emotions in people and cause them to do a certain task.
3. http://layingdownthelawlessness.files.wordpress.com/2011/11/animal_cruelty_brown.jpg
This affected me because I hate animal cruelty and when people do this to animals it just gets me angry.
Part 2
1. http://kniedziejko.files.wordpress.com/2010/04/binge-drinking.jpg
2. Everyday a teenager starts drinking. Drinking cause people to die daily as well. Most of the people who die by drinking are teens and it can be stopped. Adults try to prevent it but they are not trying hard enough to stop it. We can stop teen drinking by just saying you will die sooner if you drink.
Part 1.
ReplyDelete1) I learned that images themself dont change the world, instead they provoke a reaction in people and those reactions cause people to want to make a change.
2) I do believe that images can change the world because as Jonathon stated "you dont take the photo, you make it". I totally agree that pictures come with you own opinions, values and interpretation. Seeing and feeling the immensity of one image can change your life.
3) One image that affects me is starvation and under nurished children, especially in Africa. It bothers me to see these children's ribs to be visible.
Part 2.
1)http://www.thelondondailynews.com/images/cruelty_dogg.jpg
2) My image of a under nurished dog is a great reason why peoople should continue to fight for animal rights. Animals, well dogs in this case obviously cant speak up for themself and say im hungry or i dont like the way you treat me so who else can advocate for them but a human. It is not right to not feed or mistreat any living thing that has a mind of its own. Im pretty sure the people who abuse these dogs would'nt like it if the tables were turned so do unto others as you would want done to you. Just because something cant speak up for itself doesnt incline that having the ability to abuse them is right.

ReplyDeletePart 1
1. One thing that i have learned from this TED talk is that its not about the person who takes the picture but its about the person who makes it. This basically means that anyone can take a picture it is just that the person in the picture is persuading or making you want to help (being an activist) in the situation depending on what kind of situation it is.
2.Yes, i do believe that images can change the world. My reasoning is because if someone is showing you what is really going on in certain places they would want to help make things better. Pictures can tell us more that words can. If a person hears about a certain place they would really have a picture in mind , but if a person sees a physical picture taken from that certain place i know for a fact that they would want to help out.
3.http://www.google.com/imgres?num=10&hl=en&biw=998&bih=625&tbm=isch&tbnid=tgGZimoEnv7acM:&imgrefurl=http://www.doobybrain.com/2010/01/13/photos-from-the-haiti-earthquake/&docid=h3ITNjvV5F5KzM&imgurl=http://www.doobybrain.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/01/haiti-earthquake-victim.jpg&w=600&h=400&ei=BI4EUIPTCaKU6wGa0OTSCA&zoom=1&iact=hc&vpx=376&vpy=331&dur=61&hovh=183&hovw=275&tx=132&ty=135&sig=107379325647942907344&page=1&tbnh=111&tbnw=166&start=0&ndsp=15&ved=1t:429,r:12,s:0,i:180
There are make reasons as to why this photo had affected me. This photo is very sad. To see the damage that an earthquake can do is horrible. I have friends whose family has passed away and i feel bad because people are still dying do to this earthquake. This photo makes we want to help and helps me realize that i am more fortunate than a lot of people and i should appreciate what i have.
Part 2
1. http://www.ed.gov/blog/2012/04/ed-releases-new-report-on-arts-education-in-u-s-public-schools/
2. People should really help with Arts in Public schools. As you look at the picture you see kids smiling because they are happy when they do arts. Think about it. students will have more interest in the things that they do because it would seem more fun. for example if where in science art can be expressed through science and that is a better way for students to learn. This photo also represents why people should fight for this case because no one wants to go to a school that doesn't express learning through fun experiences. Currently not a lot of schools have arts so people should really take fun in education into consideration.
SYTERIA PERMINTER
ReplyDelete1. one thing i learned from this TED talk is that a picture can be verry influencial. meaning that a picture can mean alot and describe alot of things without any words being said. its not really about who took the picture but also what point they are trying to get across.
2. yes i do think that images can change the would because they have a mojaor effect on society today. without pictures the world would be blank and boring.
3. this image has affected me because it shows how bad defoestation really is and that something needs to be done about it. http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-IybOVEmfzAg/TwAwkNLsvoI/AAAAAAAAAzw/MMBUzq1Mgjk/s1600/deforestation.jpg&imgrefurl=http://coffeeatbreak.blogspot.com/2012/01/deforestation.html&h=480&w=640&sz=118&tbnid=ZAaj0wteLGnh4M:&tbnh=92&tbnw=122&zoom=1&usg=__FCD7khP2HcyIOw8Of9VGQjuDVgo=&docid=6DtMBlrBtepKFM&hl=en&sa=X&ei=6JAEULDZKuj20gH67PzzCA&sqi=2&ved=0CEYQ9QEwAQ&dur=1103

2. this picture affected me because it shows how bad air pollution can really be. it shows all of the smoke coming out of the building and this can have a huge affect on not just us as humans but animals too. for example flying birds . i feel that we should try and find a way to stop air pollution or not do it so much. because we really are ruining our home.
1. One thing that I learned from watching the TED talk is that images have the power too shed light, power, understanding, suspicion, ignorance etc. This tells me that images are almost like reading a book. Its not hard to figure out but it takes time and carries many emotions.
ReplyDelete2. I do believe that images can save the world. When someone comes across an image they live or feel a way about they usually pass the image on to a friend. this is how things get around the world. this causes a change because depending on what is going on in the image somebody can shed to light whats going on in the image and make a change.
3.http://www.google.com/imgres?num=10&um=1&hl=en&biw=1366&bih=667&tbm=isch&tbnid=RAbZiHfq3YM25M:&imgrefurl=http://my.umbc.edu/news/10825&docid=6E3zqkWnEaNO4M&imgurl=http://graphics8.nytimes.com/images/2006/12/10/weekinreview/10liptak.600.jpg&w=600&h=320&ei=4p0EUNDdCaeY6QG8wMHcCA&zoom=1&iact=hc&vpx=164&vpy=390&dur=70&hovh=164&hovw=308&tx=159&ty=127&sig=112653653977363810511&sqi=2&page=1&tbnh=105&tbnw=196&start=0&ndsp=18&ved=1t:429,r:12,s:0,i:111
^^One image that has affected me in a way would be a picture of a little white and black girl sitting in a classroom across from each other and what looks like they are engaging in conversation. This is showing me first signs of integration and I'm glad that I can be able to say I grew up in a society like now.
Part 2:

2. I chose that picture to emphasize on the growing rate of the obese people in society. this image mainly focuses on kids but I'd like to see a change in obesity all around the globe. I think people should fight for the cause because many health risk come with being this overweight and there are many things you cant do. Being overweight is a serious thing and this epidemic needs to be stopped. Not only just in american but all over.
part 1
ReplyDelete1. i learn that a photos speak more then what we say.
2. ya image can change the world because during world war two Hiltar tried to explain that Jews were cause of the war by posters, and images
3. http://www.astarix.co.uk/2010/11/jack-london/
i chose this picture because it telling u how they treat on that time
part 2
1. http://www.forbes.com/2010/07/27/forbes-india-identifying-the-poor.html
2. this picture is vary touching. this picture tells you how much problems that poor have in every country. one of the problems that they had is health. people don't afford to go to the hospital. 98% in every country has this problems and no one cares about this. here is a problem, because they don't care about this people are getting disease from the poor. they why we should care about all.
1. From this video i learned how powerful a picture can be. It truly is worth 1,000 words. When i saw some of the photos it really made me want to become active in the cause, like photos of the starving children.
ReplyDelete2. No, but they can influence the minds of the people who will. A picture tells a story, and when you see a picture of a child who is starving, and you can see all of their bones, it makes you feel like you need to do something to help. A picture can't change anything but the way a person thinks/feels; And that is what can/will change the world.
3. A photo that affects me the most from the TED video was the one of the polar bear standing on the floating piece of ice. I love animals and it really hurts when i see them dying, and i feel guilty that humans are part of the reason that their habitat is disappearing.

2) The picture shows how hunger has affected the children of this country. The picture would most likely have a larger impact on parents. This picture is the heart of child hunger. Starving children begging for food. It should be enough to make you feel sympathy for all the children and make you want to help.

ReplyDelete1)ive learned from this ted talk that images can have an impact on the world
ReplyDelete2)i do believe that it can change the world, however i do believe that there has to be some sorta emotional connection alot of people can be heartless and not care these days
3) the picture that stood out to me in the ted talk was the one witht he apes i find it a bit sickening how humans treat there closest realative in the animal kingdom
part 2

2) my topic is animal rights( wild life) no human has the right to take another animals life, infact as a human we should be protecting them. this picture shows a whale being ripped open and gutted, its sick how destructive humans can be, what gives them the right to harm such a creature.
Part 1)
ReplyDelete1 I learned that one image can strike a nerve in someone to make them do something about a cause, and it doesnt even have to be something complex but something so simple.
2 yes I belive that an image can change the world because the children in Africa were sent money from a picture taken showing them starving.
3 a picture of children younger and older then me holding guns and being forced to kill really does bother me.
Part 2)
www.students.cis.uab.edu/jlunday/Project/Pentaly.html
This image makes me feel really bad about animals that are abused. I believe that if you don't want to take care of an animal or treat it properly then don't get one. Domestic animals are supposed to be treated with care and love. They are not supposed to be abused and starved. People should donate to my cause because thousands of animals are left for death in piles on the side of the road. Just because they are not human does not mean that they should not have rights.
Part 1
ReplyDelete1. One thing that I learned for this ted talk is that a picture could be worth 1000 words and could also be telling you something about the community.
2.I believe that images could make an impact in the world and so can the actions that you take.
3. The picture that stood out to me the most would be the first picture. It shows the good lifestyle then below it show an area victim to a tornado.

2. the topic of the project that I'm doing is animal rights. No matter the situation no animal needs to die. Just because the don't have a voice doesn't mean we as humans could take their life. This is why over the years many organizations have been developed to fight and protect animals. One of these organizations would be the ASPCA.

ReplyDelete1. One thing I learned from this TED Talk is that images (photos and pictures) affect everyone. Every picture that I take I value because you can never take another one the same way as before.
2. I don't believe that images can change the world. However, I believe that they can totally change the way someone sees the world in which they live in.
3. The image that stands out to me the most is the one of the firefighters putting up the American flag on Ground Zero. This image makes me feel that no matter what goes on life, we can always stand up and move on from it. As hard as it may seem to keep going on, in the end you can still get to a brighter side of things.

This link has a powerful image to it. It shows a young girl laying on the hood of a car after the car being totaled. She is bloody and looks to be dead. Teen drinking is a very horrible problem we have in the United States. Most teens don't make very wise decisions in life. After they drink, they tend to get into car with someone who was drinking which leads to horrible car accidents like the one shown in the link.
1 one thing i learned from this TED talk is that images can change the world too
ReplyDelete2 i believe that images can change the world because thought out history people has use pic to tell what happen in the past

ReplyDelete1) One thing I learned from this TED talk is images are the new way of protest. People see these powerful images and begin to think deeply of it. The way we look at these images and imterpet them is how powerful the image is, we make the image.
2)I think images can change the world. It just depends on how we view it, and what we do about what we are looking at.
3) The picture that stands out to me, is the picture of the sailor kissing the woman in victory over Japan. This picture stands out to me because I think it gives people a sense of hope. Through all the war and fighting, they made it home and they are celebrating. I think people can look at this image and have hope that everything will be better. It just takes time, and it reminds us we should never lose hope.

This image stands out to me because if you read the caption you can see its all about equality. My project is about gay rights. In this image you can tell who the two people are. The only thing we see are two people sharing a loving connection with each other. We can't tell if it a guy and guy, a girl and girl, or guy and girl. Whatever they are, its all the same because love is love, no matter who you choose to be with.

2. Yes, I do believe that pictures can change the world. It can change the world depending on what the picture is. For example, human cruelty, animal cruelty, and etc, that shows to people around the world to fight and stand up for animals and themselves. Not everyone is heartless. There has to be someone to step up and speak up for such cruelty or anything, which depends.
3. The only picture(s0 that affect me are the children starvation. Young children shouldn't be starved to death. They have a life just like the rest of us humans around the world. We should step up and help the countries that are poor and those who don't have food.

To me this picture represents the suffrage children in Haiti are going through and a change has to be done in order for a recovery in Haiti. children are suffering from malnutrition and the least we can do is provide them with food and shelter and medicine then the world can be a better place.

ReplyDelete1. One thing i learned from this TED talk is that pictures are worth a 1,000 words. A picture can have a huge impact on the world and most times pictures have a meaning.
2. Yes, i do believe pictures can change the world because it depends on the way we interpret it.
3. A image that effected me was a little girl who had progeria. Progeria is a disease that is a genetic condition that produces rapid aging in children. Seeing that this little girl had progeria i knew many other little children had it too and knowing not everyone survived. We should raise awareness and money to find a cure and treat it. Children who are young have a whole life ahead of them. They shouldn't be in the hospital bed for the rest of their life.
Part 2

2. People should fight for this cause because animals are just like humans. They may have a different life but they have families just like us humans. The picture right away tells us that this is what animals are going through right now. Being killed, beaten, stabbed, hanged or even drowned. Just by looking it these animals need us more than ever by giving them a better home.

Part1.
ReplyDelete1.Ive learned that pictures can provoke people to want to make a difference in the world,
2. Images, meaningful images can change the world or atleast make a difference. A picture, just one picture is worth a thousand words, More words than we can ever say and it can make people want to have a voice on certain images .
3.http://www.google.com/imgres?q=africa+hunger&num=10&um=1&hl=en&biw=1366&bih=624&tbm=isch&tbnid=9Iw_wJ8Fu4LuyM:&imgrefurl=http://blogs.bgsu.edu/ckachur/2012/02/05/how-mobile-phones-can-end-international-hunger/africa-hunger/&docid=yRQFYw1eEIzQpM&imgurl=http://blogs.bgsu.edu/ckachur/files/2012/02/AFRICA-HUNGER.png&w=319&h=400&ei=McwEUM_GEYna0QHohszBCA&zoom=1&iact=hc&vpx=444&vpy=146&dur=4056&hovh=251&hovw=200&tx=91&ty=99&sig=103150833170358433633&sqi=2&page=1&tbnh=113&tbnw=105&start=0&ndsp=23&ved=1t:429,r:2,s:0,i:105
This image affects me because these are starving children, they don't have what we have ,they don't have clothes , nor food and they are way less fortunate then other people. Some people who are fortunate to have those things are sometimes ungrateful or not satisfied but these kids would die to have the things that you do .
Part 2.

2.This is a picture of a guy with scars on his face and bruising on his face. This man got beat up because he was gay . This picture explains why people should fight for this cause .Gay people are just like regular human beings & for them to be treated this way is wrong. They are just like the rest of us humans. They have feelings too ,they should not be getting beat just because they are gay.

ReplyDelete1] one thing i learned about the TED talk video is that a picture can mean anything(i.e the photographer from blood diamond who wanted to take a picture of the things going on in Africa)
2) i believe depending on how you see a picture it can change the way people see things in the world.
3) http://www.google.com/imgres?num=10&hl=en&tbm=isch&tbnid=9c6dr8DKnfM0WM:&imgrefurl=http://sam281732.edu.glogster.com/animal-abuse/&docid=IV1PFhPU1YOpHM&imgurl=http://www.glogster.com/media/13/40/83/28/40832842.jpg&w=390&h=256&ei=Hs4EUP3xD-i26wGMps3ZCA&zoom=1&iact=hc&vpx=413&vpy=21&dur=1387&hovh=182&hovw=277&tx=146&ty=52&sig=111715229124779250150&page=1&tbnh=124&tbnw=165&start=0&ndsp=21&ved=1t:429,r:2,s:0,i:148&biw=1366&bih=635
one image that effects the way i see things are pictures of abused animals. i just wonder what encourages someone to beat an animal for no reason .

the topic my group decided to do research on was art in public schools , and one example of school art is the painting in the People really put there heart into there art work .

ReplyDelete1)one thing i learn is that images could change people mind make them think different
2)i believe images can change the world because people are using images now to change the world
3)The logo that has affected me in a way is save the children logo because i feel sorry for the kids that suffer and struggles with a type of sickness and they have no families

ReplyDelete1) One thing that I learned from this Ted talk video is that some people don't fully understand the situation of something until they can see it in front of them.
2) I think that before and after pictures can really change someones mind. If they see how beautiful something once was, and then they see how destroyed it got, they might decide to change their minds.
3) looking at the third picture, I think that it shoes how devestating a natural disaster can be. Sometimes all it takes is a picture.
Part 1
ReplyDelete1. What I got from the TED talk was that pictures are worth a million words.
2. I think images can change the world because it can bring emotions out of people and influence them to help more.
3. Images of smokers with a hole in their neck has affected me because it shows the effects of smoking on a daily basis.

Part 1
ReplyDelete1) one thing that i learned from this TED talk is that there is more into the image then whats being shown. Each image witholds its own story, mystery, and reasoning towards its exsistence.
2) I think images cannot change the world because there were many images implying the exctinction of littering yet it happens every single day.
3)One image that sounds out the most to me is the image of the firefighters and first responce helpers for the 911 flag. This is significant because it shows the the amount of people who openly risk their lives for strangers.

2) The link i've pasted above is showing a dog being used as bait for sharks. I feel twice as hurt because in this picture they show the breed Golden Retriever being the victim and i own a Golden Retriever. This also displays that a domestic animal and one of the worlds best known and smartest breeds is a target to this inhumanity. These fisherman have no right to do so to these animals.

ReplyDelete1) "The photographer doesn't make the photograph, you do." This is absolutely true, the photographer doesn't make the photograph, you do. The people in the photo make up the photo, the background just makes the finishing touch and sets the mood.
2)Photos certainly can change the world, "A picture is worth a thousand words". A typical person would rather view a picture than paragraph about their cause. Picture can be very power and also very powerful lies, An image can change perceptions and turn around prejudices and make invisible, visible.
3) An image that have affected me is "Migrant Mother" because it has very deep meanings and gave a face to the great depression.
Part 2

2) I am doing my final project on Air pollution, the image above is the emission of carbon dioxide from factories. The reason why i believe people should fight for my cause is because air pollution is the number one cause of Global Warming and also breathing in air containing many greenhouse gases could cause many health problems. The image i choose represents what we needs to fight against.

ReplyDeletePart 1. i learned that pictures do speak louder then words. a picture is worth 1,00 words, they explain things better then a words can but they can't change the world . they can be the reason why someone else wants to change the world
2 yes they can to a certain extent because when you see a picture an emotion comes with it & it also shows makes you think something should be changed faster because of the effect
3 one logo , image that effected me is the save the children. because it shows me how less fortunate another is & how food can go a little way for someone else & i have a tendency to waste food often when other children don't even get it eat everyday
Part 2

2. because people like me that have pets & love them will understand that every living thing has right. so when an animal is killed , drowned , or even hit it hurts not only them but humans who feel its wrong. if you cant handle or love a pet i advise you to not purchase one. if the pet is not promised a happy home & love . just leave it there for someone else to care for.

ReplyDelete1)I learned the importance and power behind pictures, and how they can have an amazing effect on people.
2)Yes, i do think that pictures can change the world because they can spark something within you too make you want too make a change.
3)The pictures on the ASPCA commercials kill me because, they're abused and neglected for absolutely no reason whatsoever and how they don't have a voice
Part 2
1)http://www.chinapost.com.tw/news_images/20100111/p20b.jpg
2)This link shows the abuse animals experience. It doesn't matter if there young or old,The abuse is ridiculous and they have no voice too speak against it.This is what we need too speak up for them.
1. A picture means a thousand words, so if you can just look at a picture you can tell the story behind it.
ReplyDelete2. Images can change the world because if you show an image that is trying to prove a problem, people will then believe what is really going on and will try to do something about it if the photo concerns them.

2. I disagree with this picture, if you're 18 and you're considered an adult you should be allowed to drink. If you're not allowed to drink at the age of 18, then make 21 the age of being an adult. make things equal, cause it doesn't make sense at all at the fact that you're an adult and yet you can't drink till you're 21.

1. One thing I learned from this TED talk is that every picture/painting has it's own story. From the Mona Lisa to a kindergartener's finger painting; it has a story. Pictures arn't just memories it's a part of history.
2. Yes, I do believe that pictures can change the world. As speaker Jonathan Klein stated " when people see disturbing pictures they either turn away or ACT on it". With that I feel photographers' give society and the world a ultimatum, you can help the cause or watch it break donwn society.
3. I choose to use two pictures. The first is from the TED Video, it was of the young girl that was naked becuase she was burned. This affected me because I have young sister about her age, and it would hurt me so much to see my sister like that as it hurt me to see that young girl. I wouldn't know what to do if i saw my sister like that.
The second picture is of a young pregnant woman that is homeless. When we were dismissed from our trip to United Nations, on the way home I saw a woman who was about 7mths pregnant begging for food and money. Til' this day it still bothers me and makes me upset, to know in this "wonderful counrty" (sarcasm) that we live in is so great that a pregnant woman has to beg for food and money in a HOT subway station. This counrty makes me sick, I would do any to help others...since no one else will. (this image is the closest thing I could have got to a young pregnant woman) http://images.search.yahoo.com/images/view;_ylt=A0PDoKgQ1QRQ8GgAHMSJzbkF;_ylu=X3oDMTBlMTQ4cGxyBHNlYwNzcgRzbGsDaW1n?back=http%3A%2F%2Fimages.search.yahoo.com%2Fsearch%2Fimages%3Fp%3Dimage%2Bof%2Ba%2Bpregnant%2Bhomeless%2Bwoman%2Bin%2BNY%26n%3D30%26ei%3Dutf-8%26tab%3Dorganic%26ri%3D12&w=578&h=385&imgurl=www.lifehousecmh.org%2Fwp-content%2Fuploads%2F2011%2F06%2Fhomeless.jpg&rurl=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.lifehousecmh.org%2F&size=59.2+KB&name=Lifehouse+%7C+Crisis+Maternity+Home&p=image+of+a+pregnant+homeless+woman+in+NY&oid=a3955b60313893be57ab8f2f7f7d8da8&fr2=&fr=&tt=Lifehouse%2B%257C%2BCrisis%2BMaternity%2BHome&b=0&ni=96&no=12&ts=&tab=organic&sigr=10s22cihp&sigb=13nc305gj&sigi=11sba15en&.crumb=VjXEY6w9hXN

2. This picture is perfect for my topic because it shows a few things. The first thing that it shows is that the kids are clearly overweight for their age. The second thing is that the kids or eating take out, odds are they get take out more than they get a home cooked meal. The Third thing is that there are kind of greens(veggies) in their diet, and if there were any it would be under all the oil and fatty foods. The Last thing is that neither of the kids get any type of excerise they're either sleeping or watching TV. We are slowly kill our kids....the future.
1) one thing i learned from the TED talks video is that pictures are one of the best ways to convey important messages
ReplyDelete2)I absolutely believe that a picture can change the world. As the old saying goes, "a picture is worth a thousand words." A picture can be used to convey important messages.
3) A image that really impacted my life was the pictures of child soldiers in war stricken countries in Africa. These kids are so young but risk death everyday.

ReplyDelete1) I learned from watching the ted talk that a picture is worth a lot. Images can make people change there minds about certain things. Picture can persuade people into trying to make a change.
2) I believe images can change the world because images show how things really are you cannot just tell someone something and expect them to believe it without any proof. Lots of activism people have pictures of what they are trying to change.
3) http://www.occupyforanimals.org/uploads/7/7/3/5/7735203/3499607_orig.jpg
this photo effected me because i feel sad for kids that have to go threw this. When some people are here in united states wasting food when kids all over other places don't even get to eat 3 meals a day.
PART 2
1)http://vivirlatino.com/i/2008/08/041009_GayParents_hd.hmedium.jpg
2) This picture is such a power image because it is two gay people with a child. A lot of people believe that two of the same sex cannot raise a child which i believe is totally wrong. I feel like it does not matter who you are what sex you are it doesn't mean you have raise a child a certain way. This picture is so powerful they look so happy and on top of that they are two different race.
1) what I learned from the Ted talk is that a picture can say alot of words. One picture has many meanings to it, especially if your an activist you can try to change alot of things in an image.
ReplyDelete2) I do believe images can change the world. If one person has an big effect on a cause of a world it can change, To change the world it's alot if work but it's all about hard work and dedication.
3) the picture of the ASPCA abused animals. Whenever I hear about this I think why do animals deserve this. I am happy that the ASPCA made shelters for the animals instead of them living on the street.
part 1
ReplyDeletei learned that pictures really do say a lot even if it is just an image. It made people want to do changes and their reactions towards it did make a difference too.
i believe images dont neccessarily change the entire world but it can change how we look at things then before. It makes people realize a lot and gets them emotional and makes them want to do something about it and make a difference.
the image that affected me was of the student getting killed by the natinal guard. Ot affected me because all she did was protest and she got killed for someething as little as that.

2. Yes pictures can change the world because it helps understand were someone is coming from creatively .

2. In this picture is shows a dog who's been completely starved , you can clearly see all the dogs bones. This dog been suffering you can see the pain all over him. After seeing how much this dog has been mistreated i feel that everyone would wanna make a difference. As humans we need to stand up for these animals because they have no voice its our job to be their voice.

ReplyDelete1) from this TED talk i learned that a lot of people think that images can change the world. Also the image doesn't have to be graphic it can be the simplest picture of the sun and it can i have an impact on someone because of the way they portray it.
2) Yes i do think that images can change the world. i think images can change the world because every picture has a meaning, pictures are shown to us for many reasons. images are used to put a picture in our heads and decide what we think of it, if we think it has a message in it or not.
3) One picture that has effected me is one of the twin towers on fire and a plane about to hit the other. This image has effected me so much because as a kid i was picked up from school and just remember looking at buildings on fire on the TV and later i would see the picture of the one tower on fire and a plane about to hit the other in super markets and still not know what i was looking at but now i know what i was looking and it just makes me feel sick inside to know that image shows the last day of so many peoples lives.

this image stands out to me because its so simple and explains my topic in 4 words. To me this image says that if we all join together we can stop racism and since the image is so plain that it isn't going to stop over a hand shake but it is going to take hard to stop it. But it all starts with getting along with each other and putting our differences aside.

1)One thing I learned from watching this TED video is that images really have an impact on the world.Images can really change how a person views certain things.Images also fill empty spots in which people cant explain
2)Yes I do believe images can change the world because with all these social networks we have now you cant miss anything.Images are spreaded all around the world and people give their own comments.Images gives people a second look on things.I do believe images can change the world if we all analyze them and make sense of them.
3)One image that really has affected me is the image of Jesus on the cross because every time I see it I automatically think of his suffering and say to myself I should be grateful. It also gives me a sense of security and reminds me to keep faith. It also reminds me to be strong in any situation i'm in.

2)This picture shows the earth weighing itself but notice its facial expression. Not very happy huh?.This picture represents world Obesity. The majority of humans of all ages are suffering from obesity. This picture represents why we need to fight for world Obesity. We don't really know much about the food we consume everyday, all we know is that when we are hungry we eat food. Most people consume large amounts of food each day and are unaware of the effects it has on there bodies.Thats why its time to take control of our diets. Its time to start eating right because believe it or not Obesity is the number one leading cause of death and this picture explains it all.
PART 1: one thing i learned from the TED talk is not pictures speak for themselves, even the tragic ones.
ReplyDelete2.yes i believe images can change the world. because looking at at a sad photo can make people want to do something to change the bad cause in that photo.
3. one photo that effects me is seeing people posing in the photos with hungry children. to me it seems as though the people in the photos act like the kids are a show there not not helping the children to a certain degree.
PART 2:1. http://www.google.com/imgres?q=hungry+children&num=10&um=1&hl=en&biw=1920&bih=979&tbm=isch&tbnid=BX784xTEOs3WlM:&imgrefurl=http://momsagainsthunger.typepad.com/moms-against-hunger/children-and-poverty/&docid=vxpj9Cx-8VgAyM&imgurl=http://momsagainsthunger.typepad.com/.a/6a0120a7cb9b0e970b016764ff5fa9970b-800wi&w=702&h=463&ei=pwkFUIm1PIGo6wHiwInRCA&zoom=1&iact=hc&vpx=845&vpy=190&dur=4137&hovh=182&hovw=277&tx=106&ty=121&sig=109238926330193402399&sqi=2&page=1&tbnh=131&tbnw=178&start=0&ndsp=48&ved=1t:429,r:4,s:0,i:150
2.this picture represents everything to me. nobody ever wants to see there child starve let alone another child out there in the world. people should fight for his cause because its sad and disturbing to see the young children s bones press threw there skin, knowing there in pain from there body's just eating at there flesh. we the people complain when we don't eat breakfast these children 'cry'! when they don't eat for days or weeks. all we can do is send money each day to at least feed 400 hungry children to make sure they don't go to sleep hungry.
1.One thing that I learned is that an image can change the way a person thinks.
ReplyDelete2. I do believe that an image can change the world. An image can be really persuasive and can change the way one thinks about something.
3.Photos that affect are photos about slavery. White people treated black people like they were nothing compared to them. Black were treated like dirt and they could do nothing about it.
Part 2:http://www.google.com/imgres?um=1&hl=en&sa=N&biw=1280&bih=699&tbm=isch&tbnid=h71VzEkdULvK1M:&imgrefurl=http://electrictreehouse.com/tag/water-pollution/&docid=1Didu9HBZNn9mM&imgurl=http://electrictreehouse.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/01/plastic_bottles_water_resource.jpg&w=750&h=432&ei=4TMFUJTJMqXt0gHRhunQCA&zoom=1&iact=hc&vpx=179&vpy=374&dur=1609&hovh=170&hovw=296&tx=77&ty=109&sig=101500036868496641210&page=4&tbnh=123&tbnw=214&start=57&ndsp=20&ved=1t:429,r:5,s:57,i:344
2.The image I chose shows a man in a small boat trying to clean garbage out of the water. This image really shows how much people litter everyday. When people litter like this, our freshwater resources are no longer fresh. This litter is also bad for animals that are drinking this water which contains chemicals and other harmful things.Polluting water is ridiculous, especially the type of pollution shown in this image. I cant even see the water.
1) One thing I learned from this Ted talk is that images can change the way a person thinks about a certain thing.
ReplyDelete2)I personally beleieve images can change the world. You hear about catastrophies happening but you never understand the full extent of them. When you see an image it just makes you think about how bad it really is.
3)The Marine Corps logo. I know it by heart and its what i want to do with my life. To me it symbolizes duty, loyalty, and honor.
Part 2
1)http://www.google.com/imgres?q=gay+rights&num=10&hl=en&biw=1249&bih=588&tbm=isch&tbnid=L2IOePcPoJN3hM:&imgrefurl=http://www.ireneolszewski.com/Gay_%26_Lesbian_Adoption_CT.htm&docid=NVABrN-cqA5CbM&imgurl=http://www.ireneolszewski.com/gay_rights.jpg&w=320&h=240&ei=v0UFUJ-6O8Wn6wGN2ejWCA&zoom=1&iact=hc&vpx=560&vpy=282&dur=2626&hovh=192&hovw=256&tx=173&ty=156&sig=111885707521434466941&page=1&tbnh=103&tbnw=137&start=0&ndsp=24&ved=1t:429,r:20,s:0,i:216
2) My picture is the male and female signs but instead of together its a man and man and woman and woman. It supports my cause strongly. To some people it is just an image. To others it makes you think. That gay men and lesbian woman deserve the right to be happy.
1. One thing that I learned for this ted talk is that a picture could be worth 100 words and could also be telling you something about the community.
ReplyDelete2)Photos certainly can change the world, "A picture is worth a thousand words". A typical person would rather view a picture than paragraph about their cause. Picture can be very power and also very powerful lies, An image can change perceptions and turn around prejudices and make invisible, visible.
3)one logo , image that effected me is the save the children. because it shows me how less fortunate another is & how food can go a little way for someone else & i have a tendency to waste food often when other children don't even get it eat everyday
