1)One thing I learned from watching this TED talk is that obesity can be avoided. Obesity is one of the leading causes of death in the United States. One reason that there is so much obesity is because children aren’t being taught how to cook at home or at school so they got to McDonalds, Burger king, Wendy’s, etc. It’s not the fact that you may eat it, it’s how big of a portion or how frequently you consume it.
2)I think that what Jamie Oliver said was true. Most kids don’t know their vegetables or where food comes from, and most parents do not cook at home or claim they do not have time to cook because of their jobs, so kids grow up on fast food not knowing what’s in it. There needs to be cooking classes in school. It teaches them how to be independent but also lets them not have to run to fast food restaurants every time their hungry.
3)I believe that healthy food is a worldwide cause. I would definitely fight for healthy food, especially in schools. Most of the foods we eat in school are not really cooked; they get them in packages and just warm them up when it’s ready to be used. Most fast food places claim they already started trying to make things healthier by adding fruits and other things. But, I believe that they need to try a little harder less calories same great taste.

  2. 1. I learned that obesity is a huge problem in the world. The fact that it reduces life span of the new generation by 10 years. Also it can also effect me right now because I am at the age where I go to school and is open to unhealthy foods.
    2. I think that Jamie Oliver is a very intelligent man to put his mind on others and try his best to stop obesity in the world. What he was trying to say was that kids are unaware of what is good to eat. The only way they can learn is their parents must teach them. I also think he is completely right about obesity in the world and how it must stop because it can be prevented.
    3. I do think healthy food is a worthwhile cause because it can make you healthier which expands your life time on this earth. I would fight for it because it is so simple just to talk to children and adults of what they can do to make themselves healthier.

  3. One thing that I learned from the TED talk is more people die from being fat then anything else in america.
I think that jamie is doing his community a huge favor.
I think this because he said he donated money to schools near him. I thought what he had to say was also convincing. its convincing because he showed people that are suffering from obesity.
I think healthy food is a worthwhile cause because instead of eating fastfood you will have more money in your pocket eating healthy food. An idea to reduce obesity is to only have a few fastfood places in each borough or county.

    1) I learned that America is the most unhealthy country in the world and 10% of health care bills are for people who face obesity. Although i know obesity can be avoided, main stream America contributes to the rate. Fast food chains have dominated the country and we are witnesses of that.

    2) I agree with what Jamie is saying. He is using information and education to save peoples life. He has good intentions and he is benefiting the community by informing them on what they should know. People obviously are unaware or dont care about the rate of obesity if they continue to contribute to it. If the people that advocate and try to stop and help others didnt care, then who else would ? I definately agree with Jamie and I believe he is completely right. No kid wants to live a short life or be outlived by their parents. If people listened and try to make a change, America would not have the title as one of the most unhealthy nations.

    3) I do think healthy food is a worthwhile cause and I would fight for it because people NEED to know this stuff. Children should be taught and be able to identify vegetables and fruit and I think its crazy that some dont know the difference between tomatoes and patatoes. As Jamie has said, if children arent taught what these things are then they probably would never eat it. I totally agree. Parents should take precaution because they are killing they're children inadvertently. Yeah, the food is good and yeah its a great snack but junk food should not be a everyday all day, type of thing. Portions and how much you consume obviously begins takes a huge toll !

  8. 1. I learned that diet related disease is the biggest killer in the united states.
    2. I think that Jamie Oliver did the world a favor by bringing to the light that a lot of people are dying because of their diet. And it's great that he is very honest about the point that children are becoming obese because of the way they grew up, with the fast food around them, in their homes, and the fact that it's killing them. Even in the schools, it's fast food. And i think the point that he made about how if people actually looked into the type of things that are being served at school, it would be considered child abuse.
    3. After watching the video, I do think that teaching people about healthy food is important. Only because of the fact that most people don't even know that what they eat and what is being given to kids to eat is killing them.

  9. I learned that obesity is a huge problem in America and more people die from being obese than from anything else.
What Jamie Oliver had to say made me realize that I should start eating healthier. He said that my generations life span is going to be 10 years shorter than my parents. We eat so much fast food and our school lunch is really unhealthy. Now I dont want to eat it anymore and im going to start eating better food.
Yes, I think healthy food is a worthwhile cause because the way you eat determines how healthy you will be and how long you will live. I would fight for this because it is something worth fighting for. It affects me and the whole world.

    2. i agree with jamie because he is telling the world what we need to do to stop this. and how we can prevent our selves from obesity by eating healthy.
    3. yes i think healthy food is worthwhile because its helping our body. And keeping us alive and healthy and hopefully for us to live better and a longer life.

1)The United States is the #1 unhealthiest country in the world .More people die from obesity & the deseases that come along with it .

    2) I think that what Jamie Oliver made good points because people prefer to eat fast food rather than a healthy home cooked meal .They dont know what they're eating nor where it comes from .The death toll from obesity is sad & these people need help .These people are unaware of the fact that they're slowly killing themselves .

    3) Yes ,I think healthy food is worthwhile cause because we are slowly shutting our bodies down with the foods that we consume on a daily basis .We'd rather eat a cheeseburger & fries than a fruit salad & water .Yes I would fight for this cause because Diabetes & high cholesteral runs in my family & I've lost family members to obesity .I wouldn't want anyone else to go through it as well .

    2) I think that James Oliver was very informational.he was very informational about how kids are over weight.and don't know certain vegetables. They just know fast foods. I agree with him saying that their should be a cooking class in every school cause if they did I would defitenly take it.
    3) I think that healthy food is a worthwhile cause because many people are dying from being over weight. So this would be a cause that I would fight for.

~ From watching the TED talk i learned that in order for some people of this country to see a huge problem, it takes a person that's not from this country to point it out.

~ First off I love Jamie Oliver and everything he said in his speech. I agree with everything he said including the parts about the schools and what's going in the homes of today's Americans. The one thing i really found interesting, was the drive he had to help this country and others it was amazing. I am already inspired to eat healthy from my parents, but Jamie has inspired me even more and to help other more then i already do.

~ Yes I believe that healthy food is a good cause to fight for, becuase as humans we NEED to eat surive but we have to do it the right way. My dad always tells me "eat to live, dont live to eat". At frist i didnt know what he ment but i do now, it meants that you need to eat healthy to live a long good life. You shouldn't live to eat bad food just because it taste good, you'll just end up sick with a shorter life span. I personally feel other countries are laughing at us, America needs to step it up and get back in to shape. Pun intended.

1.I learned that people are dying from obesity more than anything else in america

    2. Jamie Oliver made me realize that the schools aren't serving healthy enough food. He also said that if we eat healthy enough we can avoid obesity. Parents should be paying more attention to what their children are eating. Parents should also make there children participate is some type of sport.

    3. Yes i think that healthy food is worth fighting for because if we continue to eat fast food our bodies will not be healthy. We as a people should let others know what fast food is doing to the people in our community

  15. 1. One thing that I have learned while watching Jamie Oliver speak is that us kids now will live a life span of 10 years younger than the generation(our parents) above us because of the landscape of food that's built around us.

    2. Jamie Oliver made a lot of very valid points in his speech. I think all that he had to say was very informative and important. I like that he didn't hold back from telling people what they're eating and whats its doing to them. He wants people to see what they are doing to themselves and the best way to do that is be blunt. All he had to say really broaden my view of what I am doing to my body and makes me watch to change the way I eat.

    3. Healthy food is definitely a worthwhile cause. I would fight for this cause because nobody wants their life span to be cut short. Healthy eating can work for you in many ways. You wouldn't have to worry about getting sick not being able to work out etc. If unhealthy food is killing all of our us across the globe then why not fight for it. Its not killing animals or the enviorment which many of us may think they have no control over, but its killing the world as a human race so I would take a stand.

might end up sick or dieing

3 yes its and yes i would fight for it because without healthy food people would be dieing a lot and a lot of people would get sick and not being able to do anythink

  18. 1) I learned that many people every year die from obesity every year. It also stays in family and is basically passed down from generation to generation.

    2) Jamie Oliver made very heart-touching points during his speech. He made a huge point on the fact that everyone who is obese and about to die, is someones family member. Jamie also said that its not the lunch lady's fault that the school lunch sucks. I will have to take that into consideration now.

    3) When i think of fast food, it doesn't really matter that much to me, only because I'm skinny myself. After hearing Jamie's points, I would fight for healthy food. I would fight because once things become a family matter, I have to step in and do my best.

    1. One thing I learned from this TED Talk is that most children these days will live 10 years less than the age their parents lived due to obesity.
    2. What did you think of what Jamie Oliver had to say? (at least 4 sentences)
What Jamie Oliver had to say was extremely important because childhood obesity is a very serious thing. What he said made sense. He was very straightforward and stern/firm in his words. He was firm because he needed to get his point across and make his listeners really understand the seriousness of this problem.
    3. I believe that healthy food is a worthwhile cause because it has to do with us as humans. People these days are becoming activists for things such as global warming, deforestation, pollution, etc. but they're not starting with themselves first and noticing something right in front on them. I would fight for it because we want out generation to see a full life and we don't want our lives to be cut short.

    1) One thing I learned from this TED talk, is that more people die from obesity in America than any other issue. Obesity leads to many heart problems, and diseases such as diabetes. Being over weight can be avoided, so if you don't take the steps to save yourself, you're basically killing yourself.

    2) I agree with what Jamie Oliver had to say. People eat fast food on a daily basis, because they don't cook for themselves. If people learned how to cook from an early age, more and more people would stop buying fast food.

3)Healthy food is a worthwhile cause. I would fight for this cause because everyday more and more people are dying from it. We learn from our parents if our parents are obese, we will also take their habits and pass it down to our children. If we don't take action, and start informing people about what they are doing to themselves everyone will be fat.

  23. 1. One thing that i have learned from this TED talk is America has the highest rate of obesity.

    2. What Jamie had to say is something everyone should listen about. Obesity is a very big deal. The way he just gets to the point of obesity and what it could do to you. He is demanding and straightforward to the people saying we have to do something about this now or this is what is going to happen to this family and many other people who are overweight.

    3. Yes, healthy food is worthwhile. I would fight for it because we want to live long. Not having our lives cut short. We want our generation to know fast food we can eat once in a while, but everyday, this is what can happen to you. Our health comes first before anything.

    3) Honestly it is a good cause to fight for. The problem is people are gonna eat what they want. I would fight for it in the chance that it would take effect.

  25. -I learned that eating so much unhealthy food that can cause obesity can decrease your life span. because of the fact that obesity and lead to many health problems that can be fatal.
    - I honestly think that Jamie is absolutely right on the amount of obesity in this country. people tend to get lazy to cook , or don't know how to cook rely on fast food almost everynight to fill there stomach. every day the amount of fat , oil , and unhealthy food , will destroy your body little by little , and one day you'll look at yourself in the mirror wondering how you let yourself get to that point in life. kids now a days are being raised to eat nothing but fast food and junk. if the parents don't give them vegetables here and there , they will start becoming obese at such a young age , that can decrease their life span.
-I think healthy food is worth while, I'd be upset if I got to the point when I'm obese & I wouldnt be able to do things a skinny person can do. they say live life to the fullest , but it doesn't mean eat fast food everyday & end up.getting health problems.

    1. One thing I learned from this TED talk is that people died from obesity in america.

    2. I agree with Jamie Oliver because if you don't eat home made food, then your just going to be stuck eating fast food all the time which is bad. He wants people to stop eating so much junk food because by eating all those food, it cause people to lose loved ones. He was very serious and strongly convincing the parents and other people as well to stop eating unhealthy food. It cause overweight and people to be obese and it passes on to the next generation.

    3. Healthy food is defiantly a worthwhile cause. I would fight for it because I like to keep my life going rather than ending it by eating junk food. It weakens you and makes you gain so much weight. Healthy food should be taken advantage of than junk food. Yes, you can fast food, but not everyday. That's not healthy. Healthy food keeps you alive, and your health is more important than junk food.

2)He was completely correct. We have this as a leading cause and pay more attention too the smaller things just too get a news story.Things need too be done and put in action too stop this.He needs too continue fighting too bring awareness to this cause.

3)Yes it is a worthwhile cause. If we don't take care of ourselves ,then who will? It's our bodies and we deserve better for ourselves and that is why i'd fight for it .

    1) Obesity is one of the leading cause of death in the United States, The children of this country will live 10 years less than their parent's life span.

    2) Jamie Oliver states that if we don't act quick and stand for a change there will be no hope for the younger generation. Obesity can be preventable by eating healthy meals and a proper diet. Child obesity is one of the leading problems in our society, instead of buying your kids fast food, cook for them. Our younger generation has no idea of health food (vegetables, fresh food) because we made the mistake of promoting fast food to them.

    3) I believe that healthy food is worthwhile cause because Obesity is the leading cause of death in our country, it has decreased the average life span of our younger generation due to fast food and kid's being unaware of healthy food. I would fight against obesity and promote the importance of healthy diet among parents and school, because the younger generation is going to be running this country soon and that won't happen if they can't live enough.

    2) What Jamie had to say i found very important. Some people don't understand that eating healthy takes care of your body more its more healthy. Kids are not going to know what they eat unless someone else tells them because they are just kids.I agree with Jamie because even though some kids don't know what they are getting themselves into they don't want to live a short life just cause of the food they are eating.

    3) I do think healthy food is worthwhile. Who wouldn't want to live a long life ? why would someone want to die early before their time because of unhealthy food. I would fight for healthy food but it matters on other people do they want to be helped ? do they want to change the way they eat? i would not want my hard work to go to waste cause everyone eat and does what they want.

3)Yes I do believe that food is a worthwhile cause because its the number one leading cause of death.Yes I would fight for it because so many people are unaware of the food we consume. The food that we think is low in fat and low in sugar is actually not.All of the Labels tell lies as Jamie said in the video.Obesity is not only affecting the people that have it but also the people around them as well.I would absolutely fight for it because alot of people need to be informed and need to start eating right.

    1. From watching the TED video i have learned that the united states of america is the unhealthiest place around the whole entire world and that west Virginia is the most unhealthiest state out of all of them.
    2. I think that Jamie's video gave a lot of important facts. From watching this video it made me want to change my eating habit's. More that half of the things that i eat it what causes people to be obese and this video also helped me understand why obesity is a serious problem.
3.Healthy food is worth wild when it comes to certain foods. The reason i say this is because why should people eat foods they don't like even if its healthy. That would be considered torture. salads are healthy and people can eat that. But not every healthy food taste good.

    1. one of the many things i learned from watching this video is that some parents obviously don't know how to feed their children if its very possible that kids will live 10 years younger than their own parents.
    2. I thought he made some very good points and stated many facts. He's obviously trying to save lives of obese kids that don't know how to take care of themselves, the more they eat is the more at risk they're putting there lives in. Fast food is also taking over families with how much they purchase and consume which is shortening their lives.
    3. Healthy food is definitely a worthwhile cause to fight for because to kids even though the foods might not look good its still healthy for them and well keep them around a lot longer.

  47. 1)One thing I learned from watching this TED talk is that obesity can be avoided.

2)I think what Jamie Oliver said was very informing. He actually said alot of things that I was unaware of.He said that smoking cost less than obesity.I think everybody in America needs to watch this video and be informed as well.I liked his overall presentation because he used examples to show us how it is as well as humor.
